That entire conversation at the start about people and their relationships; with there and themselves, with their past selves… I think a lot about the interactions have with strangers or people on the periphery of my life, how they came into my life, if/why they stayed, what they were doing. I think we as society have grossly accepted that “things aren’t a binary, or black and white” but most people find it hard to accept the nuance that’s actually there, you know? I think art is one way the nuance can bleed through and can open people’s eyes and make them look around (whether it should is maybe another question).

2024-10-20 12:41:47 +0000 UTCAs a manga reader, i heavily disagree, i think jjk's ideas really flourish to even greater heights from shibuya onwards wether its power system utilization or the handling of its themes. I get being dissatisfied with some developments, but "falling appart" is a bit of a stretch of a statement IMO.

All the abilities are unique and haven’t been utilized to their full potential in the manga, so every animator want their chance to leave their mark on this mainstream IP with their own ideas of how the fight could look. JJK just screams potential for interesting fight scenes. It doesn’t matter if the writing is super good or cohesive, since everyone only is making a small piece anyway. OPM created a similar situation, but actually managed to tell a more interesting story all the way through. Manga readers are the ones complaining, because it’s everything after this that starts to fall apart. It’s only to be expected when a weekly series gets stretched to its limit and the mangaka never has free time to polish their ideas. I’d say that after this season, Gege only really had the Sukuna v Gojo fight in his mind and had to work out the rest as he went along.

2024-10-12 18:14:13 +0000 UTCJJK really stands out from the crowd when it comes to the fights - animation and direction, and while the bar was set impossibly high with the Choso bathroom fight, this episode delivered close to that at a few spots, what a joy to watch. I think if I have any complaints, it is that Mahito's evolved form doesn't look as shocking or incredible or disgusting as I would have hoped for - that was my initial reaction when I first saw it and it still feel the same.
