The line "The color of the sāla flowers reveals the truth that the prosperous must decline" is taken from the Buddhist Humane King Sutra."The prosperous inevitably decline, the full inevitably empty." Todo was encouraging Yuji by subverting the meaning of the original excerpt. His subversion symbolises defiance to the divine law of the impermanence of things. He asserts that sorcerers may have mortal physical bodies but their will remains eternal.
