yeah its odd. It looks like they only changed the Emilia's character. Hopefully the physic don't make it weird. From memory I though S3 was only meant to have arc 5. Do you know if that's still the case? I heard theres a possibility of arc 6 being added too. To be honest, I hope its just arc 5 as the story gets so good from then onwards and I don't want them to cut much. Either way I think the Re:Zero animation team knows the main audience well enough not to make it with fan service.

Thanks for the reply, SPOILER DISCUSSION BELOW
What's your opinion on the look of the third season? I feel like the trailer scared me a bit with Emilia's new G cups and all the villains they focused on seem borderline loli/child bait, I don't really see it flying too well with the reactors I've watched so far. Definitely had a different look to it than the first two seasons

all valid questions. unfortunately most of it is revealed in a later arc not yet made in the anime. (I believe it will be in season 3)

Remember Pride is missing, so there's 6 Sin Archbishops. I think you're overthinking the Sins.

I really enjoy about all of Re:Zero's highs but I found your criticism of Theresia's story / reason for giving up the sword very similar to how I feel, though I guess I just accepted it a bit easier. I definitely questioned internally why doesn't she want to keep being an amazing sword saint and save people's lives? And why does Wilheim need to take her job away? There's not enough development to make you feel there's any believable reason for that. Even if she says oh I'd rather just be a gardener and sit in flowers. It's kinda like having Tony Stark be like, well you know being a billionaire super genius is ok I suppose, but I really just wanted to have a minimum wage 9-5 and binge Netflix every night, so be my guest, take over my company and I'll just sit home and watch TV all day.
It's also implied that she fought the white whale, but why? That's another thing they don't explain I believe, if she gave up being the sword saint, and lived among the flowers, how does she end up fighting the white whale? Where was Wilheim, maybe I missed that part in every re-watch, but Wilheim says in the fight he can't believe the whale could ever have beaten her when it was at 1/3 it's power from copying itself, so it had a different strategy vs her, but clearly it didn't blink her out of all existence with the spray, so it had to be an actual fight I'd think.

About the Sin Archbishop of Pride being Subaru...... there of course is a IF story for that as well called Ayamatsu written by the author. Pretty good one too. And for the other stuff you said in the beginning with people being amgery, man, just enjoy the show. Don't give too much weight to this stuff. i'm a huge re zero fan, and I don't blame you for missing or misinterpreting things occasionally. The web novel written by the author goes in excruciating depth about a lot of things, and therefore an enormous ammount is lost to the adaptation. So yeah, I hope toxic fans don't get to you too much. Peace. ;D

It's the same scene as the beginning of the next season, is it not? Feels weird having it in both places. I'm not sold on the DC version that combines the episodes into half as many double length episodes, and I remember reading quite a few comments that there's things worse in the remastered DC vs the original.

Director's cut version of the final 2 episodes has an additional scene.

I see what you mean in regard to Wilheims backstory, it was very emotional for me personally but yeah, I don't think it's the deepest most poignant thing ever. What I will say is that matters revolving around those characters get far more interesting as the story goes on, and in context I think It makes Wilheims moment mean a lot more.
