April Update
Added 2025-04-06 16:14:43 +0000 UTCNow that the Kickstarter is over, we decided to try a slightly different schedule—we'll be releasing small updates weekly on Saturday (a day earlier for Fiend and higher tiers) and one big update on the last day of the month (three days earlier for Fiend and higher tiers). We're still looking for the sweet spot that brings the best productivity for us and the most content for you, so this schedule might change. We'll see how it works out in April.
Plans for April
The main plan is to finish all key events from Week 2. To do that, we need to:
Finish remaining morning and noon routines.
Fix some scenes to reflect different outcomes of the party event.
Finish business dinner with Oliver.
Add an aftermath scene after scouting Waterfront.
Shrink sessions with Emily – it'll be a regular scene where Alex discusses how he feels about everything with Emily. It'll change heavily based on Alex's corruption and confidence and might also be impacted by some of his actions.
Add Chloe's Movie Night scene aftermath, in which Alex and Chloe discuss what happened during the scene.
Finish the last missing event from Week 1:
Killing Twins aftermath – a CG event centered around Violet.
Other things we want to do this month:
Polish existing scenes:
Add minor missing variants in Emily's 2nd shopping trip.
Add proper illustration variants to Twins interrogation scenes (except for the 2nd one)
Add face avatars in some scenes where the characters aren't visible (Chloe's Movie Night, for example).
Add sprites in the car scenes, including the new scouting scene.
More minor illustration variants in some scenes or animations (Chloe's Movie Night).
Improve some romances:
April - she's one of the most complex characters we have, but her events have suffered the most from her rushed schedule. We plan to rewrite some of her scenes, add more small events (texting, selfies), and add one big event (April visiting Alex in the office). We hope it'll flesh out April and clearer her story arc.
Violet – while her story arc isn't as in bad shape as April's we still want to improve the pacing of her scenes and add a bunch of smaller scenes.
Oliver - he's the only character without any optional events yet, and like April, he isn't properly fleshed out. We want to fix that.
Other romances also need some improvements, but we'll focus on Emily, Kurt, and Chloe next month.
Add more training events:
Add more training events with all team members.
Improve transitions between events:
When the scene takes place in the same location as the previous scene, there won't be a cityscape transition. Instead, there will be a subtle, quick transition.
Cityscape transitions will have improved sound design and will sound a little different each time.
We might tweak their length.
Improved texting and day planning:
Some texting choices will add events to the calendar automatically.
We'll add a gallery with all selfies to the phone and computer interfaces.
Improve the overall texting experience to make it smoother and faster.
Animations:
Switching from displaying the animations through video clips to proper in-game animations. It'll solve the issue of stuttering and long load times and also make the transitions between animations smoother.
So, that's our plan for April. It doesn't necessarily mean we'll do all that this month; most likely, we won't finish everything on time. It's difficult to estimate how much everything might take, but we'll do our best to check off as many things from this list as possible.
Comments
The update will be tomorrow. Little late, but Oliver's scene turned out much longer than we expected, and it's the main part of this update. It's now done, but we still need to add sound design, etc.
