The PAIN that came from watching that final confrontation live is unmatched to this day Jess 😭

Jack's World

I had anticipated that you would have words about Sam not delivering the killing blow to Lucy. I almost got mad too, though I came around. You note the parallel of Sam taking out Alistaire mirroring here. I also reconcile that it’s a joint effort in the end. Plus, the bigger victory is Jack’s rejection of Lucy. Sam did good, and in the end, Jack chose to sacrifice his life over Sam’s, and Sam outright calls Jack family. Couldn’t ask for a better defeat for Lucy. Love your words on it. Shame about Michael sticking to the letter of the agreement with taking some interpretation of it, meaning we’re stuck with him using Dean for a while. Like the words on the brothers being big picture versus small picture. I do share the dismay that Jess had of not getting to see the Charlie and Rowena road trip. I am loving so much the Bobby and Mary scenes. In addition to the jokes made about the state of the world, I crack up over how they have the newspaper of the Cubs winning the World Series on the board. Essentialy thinking, “So, in terms of catching people up with stuff, the Cubs’ World Series victory is up there on the monumental events? ...I’ll have to think of a fitting response to that one, but I do LOVE IT.”

The first time I watched this episode, I actually kinda hated it. With all the build up between Sam and Lucifer and Jack that we got this season, all the subtext and parallels, I was really, really disappointed that they had Dean kill Lucifer instead, it just felt a little insulting. But on rewatches, my appreciation for the episode as it is, and as a finale, seriously grew. The boys have always been each others biggest defenders, and have always gone out of their way to protect each other. And, Dean did, ultimately, deserve to kill Lucifer. Because Sam killed Alistaire to defend Dean. Alistaire was Dean's Lucifer, his tormenter in Hell, and the one person Dean was absolutely terrified of. And he wasn't strong enough to stop him. So Sam did the hard thing, the "wrong" thing, and suped up on demon blood, to kill his brother's abuser. Having Dean do the exact same thing here, using an archangel to power up and permanently take out the one being who has consistently tortured and abused his brother, when Sam wasn't strong enough to do it himself, is just absolutely beautiful mirroring, and is so in line with the overall story we have been watching, with Sam, the Boy King of Hell and using his demon blood, and Dean being the Righteous Man/ Heaven's champion and using angelic grace. It feels like closure on the full archangel vessels arc that we started, really, in season 1. And then, because its Supernatural, they take what should be a beautiful, freeing, victorious moment for our boys, the ultimate defeat of "fate"... and shatter our freaking hearts with Dean being stolen, those bitches lol. I do also really appreciate that Dean got his chance to take on the archangels, the same way Sam did. It wasn't as grand, or as high of stakes, as when Sam did it, but I feel like thats more in line for Dean anyways. Dean has always been the smaller picture, family oriented boots on the ground hunter, whereas Sam is the big picture, ultimate sacrifice, greater good kind of hunter. And it took 8 years, but we did get the foretold battle between Michael and Lucifer, but I like that it was so scaled back. Because, even though its Lucifer and Michael... this isnt the Apocalypse battle. It's not the right pair of archangel brothers, and it isn't where the battle is supposed to take place. So the fight, while devastating that, after everything our boys have done, they still ended up here, it doesn't take away from Sam's sacrifice in season 5, or the victory that the boys had. Which I think is really respectful to the canon of the show, and the arcs of the boys themselves, at least in my opinion

Ok so, first of all... welcome to the end game lol. Last two seasons, buckle up! You have no idea what you are in for, and I can't wait to see your reactions! Second of all, I really, really hope you do a reaction to the second Hillywood Show Supernatural parody. I loved your first one and would love to see your reaction, and hear your thoughts, to the second one! Also, I hope you consider watching The Winchesters! It is the sequel series to Supernatural, produced by Jensen Ackles and his wife. It is absolutely amazing and I think you just love it!
