I've never seen this one, it came on after I was already a young adult so this will be a fresh watch for me too!

you may be trying too hard is probably right. did you like airbender after 3 episodes in the same way as you did at the end? of course not! Korra is a new show, just enjoy the ride and savour their innocence.

YES!! I was so hoping you'd watch Korro. Don't try to compare Aang and Korra to much. Remember. Aang was raised as a Monk. Being humble, kind and patient was his core.

I’m a big fan of Korra. While I do love Aang, I think she’s the more interesting character. And I’m glad that the creators of TLoK didn’t play it save but created a very different show from ATLA. As others have already mentioned, there were quite a few production issues, most notably the fact that they didn’t know they’d get more than one season and couldn’t plan the story accordingly. The handling of romantic relationships is another weak spot but all in all it’s still an amazing show, not as polished as its predecessor but actually the one I enjoyed more. I hope you’ll have as much fun with it as I had.

One thing you should try not do is compare the two shows. It’s natural, and the characters compare themselves or try to live up to their predecessors multiple times throughout the show, but with the bts drama, plus the idea to try new things (very bold things that divided the fanbase), it’s better to try not to compare the two.
BTS: Mike & Bryan (creators & co-writers of Atla, mostly on worldbuilding) were brought for season 1, they only thought they were getting one season, Nick ordered season 2 during post-production, Tim & Josh (more co-writers of Atla) were brought in for season 2 and beyond, they had to change animation companies for the 1st half of season 2, Nick changed the airing dates from Saturday mornings (the good spot) to late Friday nights, Nick ordered season 3&4 during post-production of season 2, Nick took the show off tv after season 3 ep 8 & aired the rest exclusively online, and Nick slashed an episode’s budget on season 4 and said to fire one of their staff or make a clip show.

I hope you like the Anti-Power Fantasy that is this show. I hope you understand the subtext & reasons why Korra is the way she is; 1) Being kept isolated in a compound in the South with no contact with her age instead of traveling the world hindered her social skills. 2) Her being in her late teens means the hormones are up. 3) The White Lotus telling her how she’s the Avatar, and that she’ll do great things gave her an ego. Her personality is just fundamentally different on purpose (all of those make many situations awkward, sad or frustrating, but we should know why)). Give Korra time, as with true growth, it’s not linear & the same lessons may need to be taught more than once.
Because of this, Korra tied her identity to her bending and doesn’t know who she is without it (& is scared to ask that question), and this reflects in Korra’s villains.

I love the avatar series with all my heart, and that includes Korra. I will watch anyone react to it. I love how different Legend of Korra is from the Last Airbender.

Nice. Season 2 is not great but everything else is top tier. Kristen will enjoy this show!
