This was definitely my "go-to" movie in college and was my favorite Disney film for a long time. The music and the orchestrations are incredible. I can see how people in China were skeptical about it, because there will always be a bit of a a protective nature of a culture towards its stories - especially when they're taken and told by someone else. But, having said that, I agree the film is incredible and I'm sure many an Asian wore it as a badge of pride. I think when Native Americans objected to Disney's portrayal of Pocahontas, I think Disney wanted to take a different approach and try to do the best they could to honor China. I also sat here and cracked up at your reactions to the emperor's representative who did everything he could to write a bad report. He certainly was that "pain in the ass" character you love to hate - and yet, he was played by one of the best Chinese American actors of our time, in my humble opinion hehe. I love me some James Hong. :). He will always be David Lopan to me hahaha!!
