Passing of a Legend - Akira Toriyama

I know I'm a bit late with this but I wanted to write something about the great man who changed the era of Shonen and touched the hearts of hundreds of millions around the world.

I heard about Akira Toriyama’s passing around 4 days ago. It really hurt.

Dragon ball Z was the first Anime I have watched and that's what got me into manga and other animes. I remember watching Dragonball Z with my little brother when I was just 12 years old. I had watched ‘cartoons’ before but Dragonball Z was the first where I became emotionally invested in an anime. After finishing Z, I downloaded Dragonball and then GT. I gotta say I didn't like GT as much as the other two but I enjoyed it. But in the last episode when I saw Goku’s farewell that was like a gut punch. I cried watching that episode.

Me and my friends used to play DBZ games all the time and it was a big part of our childhood.

And decade later when Mr. Toriyama returned with Battle of Gods, I was soo happy. I got to watch my favorite characters return to the screen again.

Now hearing about his death… it was a really sad day for me and a lot of my friends.

Akira Toriyama's legacy is not just in the characters and stories he created but in the joy, inspiration, and sense of wonder he brought to millions. His work encouraged others to dream, to create, and to embrace the adventures of life with courage and humor. As fans around the world mourn his loss, we also celebrate the incredible contributions of a man whose imagination knew no bounds.

Now, we remember Akira Toriyama not just for the worlds he created, but for his kind spirit, his unparalleled creativity, and his enduring influence on generations of storytellers and dreamers. His legacy will continue to thrive in the pages of his manga, the scenes of his anime, and the hearts of those he inspired.

Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama. Your journey may have ended, but your story goes on forever.
