March reward for Patreon TibsCove! <3
Feat. their POWERFUL Bangaa Monk (from final fantasy) OC Liz! This woman knows how to fight and she can beat your ass any day of the week.
Steps:
- 1- Early rough sketch: The very 1st sketch. Done rather quickly but soon found to look kind of stiff for what I needed, even thought it was based on an actual sprite from Akuma (From Street Fighter)0
- 2- Base sketch: Refined sketch from the earlier one, now with all the body details!
- 3- Sketch variation: A little variation I included early on in case Tibs didn't like the original face, this change was scrapped since the original was good enough!
- 4- Clothing sketch: Added the clothes and other details on separate layers, all of them of course obeying the movement the body is supposed to be doing.
- 5- Final sketch: After deleting the overlapping sections and adding a couple more details, we're good to go!
- 6- After images test: I take the base sketch and copy paste it around to get an idea of how to get the moving slide effect done right!
- 7- Lineart: With the sketch done, I move on to the clean lineart, very straight forward.
- 8- Flat colors: I now fill in the lines with the base colors of the design, which I'll finish up in the next step.
- 9- Clothing patterns: On a couple separate layers I get all the floral patterns done for the trousers and the bandanna.
- 10- Gradients: Now I add some light and dark gradients for all the colors, as well as the darkened sections of the skin + the freckles (which are really cute tbh)
- 11- Shading: Now I include 2 layers for shadows and 1 for highlights, all colored properly depending on the colors done.
- 12- Extra eye effect: I add some lightning effects and light track for the eye, because I really love that effect. I exaggerated it a little bit because I want this pic to be sorta flashy.
- 13- Lighting effects: Now I do some color corrections, and add some glow and some extra effects here and there!
- 14- After images: Now I copy and paste the same picture (like in step 6) to get everything done for the sliding effect!
- 15- Color correction: I finally did some color tweaks to the after images to match more the original animation sprite from Akuma (and also to distinguish themselves from the actual character)
