These were all the steps taken in the making of the lastest patreon reward for Leaf!
- 1- Early Sketch: For this one pic I decided to first sketch out the base body without any clothes to make sure I get everything right with proportions
- 2- Refined Sketch: After double checking everything I add all the wrappings and bandages for the costume, while trying to make them look like they're actually wrapped around her body.
- 3- Lineart: As always, I get the clean lines going along with all the details needed, this part took more time because of all the lines needed for all the single bandages :|
- 4- Flat colors: Then I add the basic colors for all proper parts of the piece.
- 5- Gradients: Then I add the proper gradients to get the character details done correctly following the ref sheet provided, thus adding a little more depth to it beforehand.
- 6- Cellshading: Now for the shadows, this part took a while because I had to spend some extra time getting some extra details on the shadows for the bandages to make them look like they had texture and were actually there. (And of course the beautiful shading of the eyes!)
- 7- Color correction: Colored the lineart while also shifting the color of the shadows from black to a reddish brown to get a much more warm palette going. Remember kids, never shade with black unless you know what you're doing.
- 8- Extra effects: Then I add the finishing touches by adding some bloom, and glow effects on the fur and all the overall parts that would reflect some of the light hitting them.
- 9- Background: To finish I add a simple shadow and get the default background going (I will use this background from now on whenever a picture does not require one, looks prettier and less bland)
