This series is very good at covering sensitive topics like nepotism, trauma (of many kinds), as well abuse. They don't gloss over it's effects on Uea and they don't ignore the people who hurt him. King starts out as a bit of an ass, but they use that character very well, and very realistically, by almost showing us Uea through his eyes in many places and making him a green flag by the end. King is the one person who is holding Uea upright. As for episode 1.......there are a lot of introductions and it does jump around a lot, for example when Uea flashes back to why he hates King (something which happened before the series started)but the series does settle down and find its rhythm.

2025-03-12 19:21:44 +0000 UTCSo fun fact about that phrase: “blood is thicker than water” is that it actually means the opposite. People shortened it and then it began to be misused. The original phrase is: “Blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.” So the phrase actually means that those you would take a blood oath with are stronger bonds than those you shared a womb with (so siblings). It reminds me a bit of the Charles dickens quote from Nicolas Nickleby where he said something along the lines of “family need not be define by those with whom you share blood but by those with whom you would give your blood.”

2025-03-12 17:37:24 +0000 UTCI enjoy this series. They handle a lot of sensitive topics and I think they do it pretty well. I hope you watch more episodes. They do pretty good redeeming King, I think. It’s a rather realistic approach to the characters, in that sometimes we do stupid things and make bad choices out of selfishness or drunkenness. King has had a crush on Uea for years and took a chance thinking maybe Uea finally wanted him too, and Uea was intoxicated, heartbroken and lonely. Also, sweet boy in glasses is Yim, like TutorYim. He’s also in Cutie Pie, will be in Restart, and he and Tutor also star in the sequel to Bed Friend, Middleman’s Love.

It's not a perfect series by any means but it handles some of its themes extremely well. Topher I think you will enjoy it and there is a lot for you to react to.☺️
