[All Patrons] Just Passing Through Extended Edition - Edgewater (and Squid Game)

A bustling island harbor of stone and sails, where trade thrives and sea monsters lurk beneath the waves.

Beyond the choppy waves, you spot a walled island rising from the sea, its gray stone battlements cutting a sharp line against the horizon. A wide harbor opens at its base, busy with bobbing fishing boats and the masts of larger vessels, their sails furled as merchants and sailors crowd the docks. Stalls and shops spill out along the waterfront, bright with banners and wares meant to catch a traveler’s eye. At the far end of the harbor, a towering lighthouse of pale stone looms over the water, its beacon ever-turning, a silent guardian watching every ship that dares the coast.

Edgewater is a bustling island village whose strength lies in its harbor and its people’s relentless work ethic. Surrounded by towering stone walls and watched over by its iconic lighthouse, it serves as a vital waypoint for trade, fishing, and coastal defense along Aurenvale’s shore. Despite being a village by name, its influence stretches further than most small communities; the town council, composed of merchant families, seasoned sailors, and guild leaders, holds sway over trade routes that connect villages and towns all across the coast. The mariner’s guild in particular wields great influence, as they regulate docking rights and oversee much of the commerce that passes through the harbor. Edgewater is known for its diversity, drawing in sailors from across the kingdom and beyond, making its streets a lively mix of languages, customs, and ambitions.

Recently, the village has begun to falter under a growing threat. Sea monsters from the Weeping Sea have attacked fishing boats, leaving some destroyed and others missing entirely. The losses have created unease in the community, while tensions between the guild and local families grow as blame shifts over who is responsible for failing to act. The lighthouse, once a symbol of safety, now feels like a silent watcher that cannot keep the danger at bay.

Yet Edgewater remains resilient. The monks of the Isle of St. Veyric, just outside the village proper, tend hillside vineyards that produce Veyric’s Deep Red, a bold, dark wine prized throughout Aurenvale. Even as fear creeps into its harbor, Edgewater still thrives, balancing prosperity with peril at every tide.

Lacking time to create content for your Tabletop RPG game?

Players love going "off mission", exploring side paths, or wandering around your sandbox. Creating everything you need for a village without making it feel too vague or undercooked is impossible. Those detours require detail.

Even if you have useful tables, you don't want to bog down your sessions by rolling on random tables and taking notes just to answer simple questions like "where can we sleep?" or "where is the blacksmith?'

Published Adventures feel too restrictive or not useful?

Published adventures offer interesting locations but sometimes feel restrictive or too closely tied to a campaign. Perhaps they're written just to serve as a catalyst for the main adventure, making it feel less like a breathing, living village and more like a video game prompt.

Does homebrew take too long?

Homebrewing villages takes hours for what often amounts to only a few minutes of gametime interaction. Even if you use AI (yuck), you have to spend time generating those questions. Plus, you have to know what questions to ask the generator.

And even then, those answers are probably relatively weak, lacking proper continuity!
