I'm 13 chapters into a huge story I'm writing about an African syndicate, and I ended up reading up on Congolese culture back to the Kingdom of Kongo centuries ago, their Minkisi idols that formed the basis for voodoo and how the slave trade brought it all down. I needed my African syndicate to have some pretty detailed motivations and methods that reflected their desire to rebuild their lost culture in some way. I was even reading up on the local plants they used for different medicinal purposes. I just want everything to really tie together, for how big this story is getting. I'll put it up on Dark Wanderer whenever it's finally done, probably around chapter 20.
