Atlia City is a fortress built atop the crumbling remains of seven colossal pre-Exodus MEKS, each one a relic from a time when the Relinquishers ruled and their MEK-KNIGHTS walked the planet as legendary warriors. After the Relinquishers abandoned Zalgul-3, the MEKS were left to rust, until a group of stranded MEK-KNIGHTS claimed them as their new home, forming the foundation of the city that would rise above the wastes. Over generations, their descendants became the Atlas Brigade, a ruling force that clings to the myth of their noble ancestry. They drape themselves in blue banners and armor, presenting themselves as modern-day paladins, protectors of the city, and heirs to the ideals of the old MEK-KNIGHTS. Yet behind this veneer of chivalry and honor lies a core of corruption, where power is maintained through exploitation, fear, and brutality. The Brigade demands tribute from the people, crushes dissent with swift cruelty, and ensures that those who live above remain privileged while the masses below struggle to survive.
The city itself is a patchwork of the ancient and the makeshift, where grand platforms and relic structures from the fallen MEKS intertwine with scrap-built shanties clinging to the sides. At ground level, the area beneath the MEKS is a thriving market, drawing traders from across the region. But while commerce flows freely, it does so under the oppressive gaze of the Atlas Brigade, who control every aspect of trade and demand their cut from every transaction. The upper reaches, accessible via a massive service elevator or precarious ladders, are reserved for the privileged: the Brigade’s officers, loyalists, and those who pay handsomely for their protection. Jetbikes, engineered by a faction of Wellies, scream across the skyline as the Brigade’s enforcers patrol the ash wastes and the city’s streets alike. Despite their claims of nobility, the Atlas Brigade is little more than a gang of tyrants wrapped in the trappings of a mythic past, holding power through control, intimidation, and the perpetuation of legends that no longer hold any truth.
