Hi. I'm DMDave. And I have ADD.

Hey everyone!

Those of you who've followed me forever probably know that I have the attention span of a coked-up gnat. As I've worked to improve my creative abilities, I've also worked to improve my creative method—namely, fighting my own waning attention span. Sometimes, the things that seem awesome to me a few days ago lose their luster later. If I don't strike while the iron is hot, it fades, and my attention goes elsewhere.

This has happened with Valtoria/Phantasmal Killer. I looooved the idea two weeks ago. And now that I'm ready to tackle it... I kinda want to do something else.

So what does that mean?

Basically, I want to go back to the "old way" of doing things with this Patreon. Those of you who were patrons back in the early days probably remember when I'd just make some weird, cool shit, drop it, get the team to make a Foundry pack, and we'd call it a day. I'd do this 5-6 times per month, cobble it together in BROADSWORD, and ship it out.

That was a blast! And y'all seemed to like it, too. Hell, that model is how we got to where we are today.

So I want to go back to doing that.

No more "this gigantic long series of content" promises which y'all know I'll get tired of 6-8 weeks later.

If I spend the evening reading about the Golden Horde, expect a steppe-themed adventure the next day.

Dave just saw a spooky new horror movie? Yep! And now I'm going to rip it off and make it cool and publish it as an adventure, dang it.

I want to write about Helkara today! Boom. Done.

This means, YES, true believers, Broadsword is coming back.

Using this venue as a creative outlet allows me to experiment and create cool shit and focus my willpower on the Kickstarter/Backerkits etc., that do require a bit more work and concentration.

What does it mean for rewards?

Since I don't have to "live in my head" to deliver on promises made a few weeks in advance, I can deliver more content frequently.

It may have an "all over the place" feel, but it'll be stuff that I'm still jazzed to make, and it'll be 5e. Although my sights are set on other rules systems these days (DCC and YZE, namely), I still know a SHIT TON about 5e and enjoy writing it.

So TL;DR, you're going to get the RAW, FUN, AWESOME shit like I used to make when I started out. Does it make sense? Nah! But it's cool. This is the hotbed that brewed some of my best adventures, including Shrine of the Emperor of Bones, Glaive of the Revenant King, Speak with Dead, Queen of the Shadows, and more.

Here's a summary:

Thanks in advance for understanding!

Let me know if there are any questions.

Let's have some fun.

Hi Dave, my current tier is Copper. I understand I only have access to particular things. I am having difficulty because 90% of the things I see are locked. It is difficult to find the things I can see. It would be preferable if all posts/ adventures/ perks that I do not have access too were removed so I can browse what I can access. It is very difficult to navigate otherwise. I can explain more, I don't think I did it very well.

Good. This is what I signed up for and what I want anyway -- small, creative ideas that I can drop into my campaign. The bigger it is, the more work it is to make it fit. The smaller it is, the more creative it can be while still fitting and becoming interesting. (I'm really excited about the twists I'm applying to the twists that you already have in Gargoyle Cathedral, which will really advance the story of my campaign.)

Use it as a SUPER POWER as you did before.

Honestly ever since the "1 big campaign per month vs lots of medium size adventures per month" poll. I was considering canceling my backing. I joined for the chaos and randomness, if you wrote something I felt was spectacular, I could work that into my campaign. If you wrote an entire world including towns, events, encounters and main plot.. I would have to commit years to finishing it. So, I am here for "The old way". This is the best news I've gotten all week :)
