Example Dungeons & Lairs Card (Skeletons)

Hey all!

I cooked up this sample card for you all to see. Basically, this is a simple encounter card in the scalable Dungeons & Lairs style. So if a party of 3rd-level characters entered the area and you drew this card, they would fight 6 skeletons.

"Dominant Encounter" refers to this being the "dominant" foe of the temple, which would be basic undead. Pets/allies would probably be simple constructs, and randoms would be everything from oozes to giant spiders. The relative difficulty of all of these encounters would be "medium," meaning that it uses approximately 1/6th of the party's Adventuring Day XP.

The little temple icon at the bottom defines the set this would come from. In this case, it's from the Lost Temple set, the one that's currently winning the poll. It's not super flashy or anything, and really, I just jacked Dominion/MTG's format. Clean and simple with some nifty textures.

Let me know what you think in the comments, and I'll make some more of these.

Thanks!

Update: Added in the card back design.

This looks incredible. I have often looked for this and ended up making something looking way worse but equally functional myself. I am greatly looking forward to this set being released

Ltbadger

I like the backing, really cool looking.

James Tindall

That looks great. I really started to enjoy the scaleability of your products.

Ulf Borén

The layout looks great! The scaling is very helpful too.

Doug M

They look cool.

Dr. Feargood

I like these!

Roosevelt Cooper

Reminds me of a tile game game like zombies!!! Could mix in random item cards for things found in the halls as well.

Trystan Wirebaugh

I like it. Since it’s a draw from a deck, would the opposite side be available for even more details? Or would it have a simple back? Reference to page number for tactics (or qr code to scan to pull up tactics) would be useful

Holy Pickle

Hello. Nice Idea. Living in France i'll go for a print file. Would it be possible to have a printer friendly version?

Nicolas Aubert

Cool. I think I’ll build the whole deck this week and test it out

DM Dave

I like how this also allows solo D&D play, for some quick dice throwing to test builds and such. Amazing work Dave!

Hernán Escudero

I be keeping it simple

DM Dave

This is amazing, Dave. It is exactly what I had hoped to see. A small illustration, different tiers/levels of play and the battle descriptor of "Medium Encounter" clearly indicates everything I need to establish an encounter. I literally could not ask for more.

Ken Siwek

Welcome to the party!

DM Dave

I like it, simple and easy

Zachery Lee Anderson

I like what I see. New member to DDM long time Dungeons and Dragons gamer. I started with the original little Xerox books and some dice. Then lead miniatures, yeah... lead. Now I am catching up with all the changes, a little out of practice, but looks interesting.

Cr rating on each card so that way on a master card(s) you could have a chart for amnt of party members, levels stuff like that.

Pretty cool!
