Kobolds! Slaying a bunch of them at Nashkell Mines in Baldur's Gate 1 is one of my fondest memories.

Hernán Escudero

Homunculus

Death knight

Blue Infinity

Shadow. For low-level play it offers +4 to stealth, +4 to hit, a bunch of resistances and immunities, necrotic damage, and reduces strength score. The character (or creature) is dead when strength becomes zero and a new shadow rises from the corpse 1d4 hours later. Pretty terrifying mechanically, as well as for story to have a companion return as a shadow.
