The Faithful of Vapul | New Player Option for Fifth Edition

In the beginning, there was only darkness and cold. This was the time of Vapul, a powerful elemental whose origins trace as far back as the creation of the demiplane of ice itself. When the dulons came to Casar, they brought life to the frozen wasteland that was Casar. Simultaneously, the fire elementals and earth elementals appeared and gave it shape. Watching his icy kingdom slip from his grasp, Vapul swore to undo what his enemies had wrought. Vapul would destroy all life on Casar and return the world to its icy origins.

Vapul has no set appearance. Before the dulons were created, he was nothing more than a chill wind, not unlike an air elemental or invisible stalker. During the Time of Titans, Vapul took on the appearance of a great, moving glacier whose mighty rifts were thousands of feet deep. Vapul’s final—and most well known form—is that of a titanic, horned danaavrakt. Those who venerate the god often create art depicting him in this final form.

Vapul’s presence can be felt all throughout the history of Casar. Loathe to relinquish his power to the dulons’ creations, Vapul battled the titans and plagued the danaavrakti. Then, during the Age of Elves, he drew the Anorians of modern day Knotside to his power. Were it not for the dulons’ final creation, the humans, and their accursed paladins defeating Vapul and the Anorians during the Winter Wars (referred to as the Time of Triumphs in modern history books), Vapul’s Winds of Winter would have continued its spread across Omeria, sinking Omeria—and by extension Casar—back into an endless winter.

Defeated by the Pressonian knight, Sir Camor of Jost, at the hill that now bears the paladin’s name, Vapul entered a deep state of hibernation. Even as he recovers from his wounds, his power is felt at the northern tip of Omeria where his Winds of Winter still clutch the globe.
