They do this by pulling back the skin and musculature of the faces, revealing the skull underneath. And if that wasn't bad enough, they emit an ear-splitting screech why they do it. Just awful.
Gods only know what sad, sordid soul created these monstrosities. No matter, as they now plague the eastern grasslands. A bane to hunters and travelers, terror cats are now an unfortunate part of the ecology.
Intelligent and evil to boot, they prefer to draw in those who'd seek to wipe them out into their lairs. They've discovered that humanoids are easily attracted to shiny objects such as gold and gems.
