"Hey Dave, what do you with all those word prompts?"
Added 2020-09-18 01:21:38 +0000 UTCHey all!
I thought I might share this with you to show you my process.
When I go to create a new adventure, I almost always start with a map. Sometimes even before I have an idea about what I want to put into the map.
Once I have a few preliminary ideas, I put together a Google Sheet with numbers for all the locations. Next, using the Chamber Contents table on Page 296 of the DMG, I randomly generate the contents for all of the areas.
From there, I take your one-word prompts and place them into the document in the order in which I receive them.

After that, I just have to figure out what it all means! That's the fun part, as I have to take three things into consideration:
- The prompt.
- The chamber's contents.
- The overall adventure theme (in this case, classic Egyptian-style mummies).
Let me know what you think!

Hush, DMDave, if players realize this they may decide they don't need a DM anymore...
