Uncle Skeleton's Neverending Dungeon - Tile #001 - Frozen

The Neverending Dungeon is a Fifth Edition adventure series built for parties of any size and any level. Each edition of this series adds a modular dungeon tile to what came before. These tiles fit together any way you like and are VTT-compatible. Because of the “endless” nature of the series, you can run games that start at 1st-level that complete at 20th and beyond, or even start a campaign with higher level players.

Backstory

The nefarious Uncle Skeleton is at it again! This time, he’s created one of his dangerous dungeons in a demi-plane of dreams. Fed by the stray anxieties of tormented children—whom Skeleton has dubbed his Nightmare Kinder—creatures who enter the dungeon find themselves trapped for all eternity (or so he would have them believe).

Most who enter the Neverending Dungeon have little recollection of how they arrived. Typically, a person enters the dungeon through one of the infinite staircases. These staircases allow access into the dungeon but deny escape. No matter how far one climbs the staircase, one never arrives at another destination. And the moment one turns around and walks back, one almost immediately finds oneself where oneself started.

Note

This is the third version of The Neverending Dungeon. It is not compatible with previous versions of the dungeon. Sorry for any confusion!

Edits

The Neverending Dungeon now has the player map. It's sized 38 x 47 - 2660 x 3290.

Thank you for the update! I just ran a 6,5h session on the first tile and it was a lot of fun! I'll take a look at the second tile and will find a way to hide the missing keys :) We are playing on Astral since I found the Roll20 version after I finished the Astral map, but I will try the Roll20 version for tile 2 (maybe when the party finds the Ogre :D) Thank you very much for the adventure!

As much as I loved this project, we never continued it because it didn't perform very well on Roll20 and in other markets. The keys were supposed to be found on other maps, but only one other map got made.

Hey Dave, thank's for this adventure! Is there any chance to tell us the locations of the red and blue keys? The green key is in chamber 8, but it can't be accessed without a blue key. I found a staff that functions like a red key in the second tile of this adventure, but could not find the blue key so far (or is it in another addon?) Thank you in advance for clarifying!

Hey, I'm dm-ing this one and don't see where the red and blue key are? are they on another map?

Elizabeth

For anyone trying to lay a grid on the map in Foundry, the grid size is around 70 at the pixel resolution described above

1 square = 10 feet

DM Dave

Also, is it one tile 10ft or 5ft?

Marcel Pare

Nice! Exactly what we needed, the size and dimension!!

Marcel Pare

Wow, love this. Been looking for something like this in 5e for a long time, can't wait for more :)

Yeh, the player version being a "standard" for everything would be wonderful.

Blair McMillan

Not sure. We've got a huuuuge collaboration with Tom Cartos in September, but possibly in October so it is finished by the time the new book comes out in November.

DM Dave

Yeah, I'll try and get 'em up this week once I knock out Buckler/Archive

DM Dave

thirded in fact is this an option that is regularly included please :)

Do you have a timeline of rebooting NT? I was about to start running it but may need to rethink my plans.

Kevin

Seconded

Kevin

NED and Nightmare tunnels are two separate deals. Likely, I'm going to reboot NT, too.

DM Dave

Is there a player version of the map for VTT usage? One without the secret door labels and other markings?

Dave, if you could please clarify something for me. Is the Uncle Skeleton's Nightmare Tunnels still a separate project? Or is this intended to merge the Tunnels and the ND into one project?

Kevin

Dave, a few things. FIrstly thank you this is the very reason I first subbed, so thank you for revisiting this!! Secondly, thanks for facing up to the fact the previous versions somehow didn't work, many people have hidden that and squirrel it away. Thank you for taking the bull by the horns. Finally, and perhaps the most important point, In the UK a tile is a corridor and a room maybe a little bit more than that on the tile. What you have just provided looks like a several hour hike for part one. My groups take about 3-5 hours for a well thought out 5 room dungeon. A quick read through has just given me nearly 40 rooms/encounters. Anyhows, thank you x 3
