Court of the Frogfolk Queen

One of the trademark characteristics of frogfolk is the "kingdoms" which they form in the swamps of their homelands. These bizarre mockeries of legitimate monarchies may seem amusing, but make no mistake: the frogfolk themselves regard their king or queen with the utmost respect and authority and will tolerate no perceived slight against them.

Where To Add This Encounter

This side trek is designed for three to seven 4th- to 6th-level characters and is optimized for four characters with an average party level (APL) of 4. The encounter is great for when the characters are traipsing through a swamp or wilderness area and you need a quick, unusual encounter before they reach their final destination. 

Whether it's the promise of ill-gotten gains or the end of a frogfolk warrior's spear, something convinces the characters to stand before the infamous frogfolk queen.

Note: This encounter is meant to be handled in a diplomatic fashion as the frogfolk will vastly outnumber the characters. Characters with itchy *fireball* fingers may find themselves served up on a platter to the frogfolk queen before they can find the guano to cast the spell.

Note: For SRD-compliance purposes, there are frequent references to "frogfolk" in this adventure.  Be sure to use any "frog-like" humanoids from the *MM* for frogfolk. Hint hint.

Into the Frogfolk Swamp

This is the next in Cze/Peku's series of big boss maps! Along with Ogre, Minotaur, Spider, Dragon, Mind Flayer and Beholder. For each of these they've tried to make something extra awesome and special.

For this one they've teamed up with PaperForge and ItsADnDMonsterNow to bring you VTT tokens and printable minis for a new Frogfolk Royal Guard and the Frogfolk Queen herself.

These two new Frogfolk monsters have full stat blocks so they're ready to throw into any game. 

The Griffon's Saddlebag has also provided an awesome item, The Toadstone, perfect for this encounter! Your party will definitely want this when taking on the Frogfolk Queen!

The map itself is huge and comes with 28 variations in total! Cze/Peku designed it so it could be used for any sort of swamp, bayou or rainforest tribe you might come across, with space for battling on land and in the murky water.

NOTE: if you don't want to get the zip files from Cze/Peku, you can still run this adventure. Just make sure that you use "frogfolk" from the Monster Manual. For the royal guard, use frogfolk but give them 52 hp and multiattack (2 attacks) with their spears (CR 1). And for the Queen, use an ogre with the frogfolk's swim speed, Amphibiousness, and Standing Leap abilities.
