Creation Token Guide and Catalog
Added 2019-03-07 19:58:56 +0000 UTCI thought I might whip up a quick guidelines for Creation Tokens for everyone. This are some things I've been thinking about a lot since cancelling Gods of Wandrossa yesterday.
If you're not sure how Creation Toeksn work yet, at the start of each month, you get a set number of creation tokens based on your Patron tier. You can see what those are in the tiers column of this Patron page.
When you don't spend your Creation Tokens in a month then your total carries over to the next month. I'll be keeping track of everything on here in a spreadsheet, but try to keep track of your own as well.
What can I spend my Creation Tokens on?
You can do three things with your Creation Tokens:
1) Personal Requests
The cost for personal requests are as follows:
- 1,000 Words (Monster) - 2 CTs
- 1,500 Words (Magic Item, Spell) - 3 CTs
- 2,000 Words (Artifact, Race) - 4 CTs
- 2,500 Words (Subclass, Location-based Adventure) - 5 CTs
- 3,000 Words (Class (simple build w 2 subclasses) - 6 CTs
- 4,000 Words (Event-based Adventure, Class (caster w/ existing spells) - 8 CTs
- 5,000 Words (Class (new spell-like mechanics a la puppet master)) - 10 CTs
- 10,000 Words (Campaign Setting, Huge Rules Overhaul) - 20 CTs
The rule of thumb is basically 500 words = 1 CT. If you aren't sure what costs what just drop me a message.
2) NEW - DMDave DMs for You!
You can use your Creation Tokens to have me run an adventure or campaign with you via Discord (or whatever format works best).
This is something new that I'm adding, but I figured that since I'm already spending the time to write, I can probably add something along those lines, too. There will be a few more rules as I'm developing the idea, but basically if you can get yourself and 3-5 friends to pool together, I'll run a 4 hour session for you. The sessions will only be held M - F from 8:30pm to 12:30am, but I can switch it up if I have enough advance notice.
Keep in mind that there is limited space (I'm only offering up 20 hours per week) so there may be a waiting list. If this becomes a popular option, I might bring on additional DMs, too.
Here are the associated costs per session:
- 4 hour session - 8 CTs per player (minimum of 4, max of 6)
- 2 hour session - 6 CTs per player (minimum of 4, max of 6)
- normal hours (8:30pm CST to 12:30am CST M-F) - +0 CTs
- different hours - +12 CTs
- stock adventure (any of the current WotC books are fine) - +0 CTs
- personalized adventure - +5 CTs
I may add in additional CT costs for any extra prep that's needed. Also, I plan on offering discounts on certain things, too (for example, if I have a whole Saturday to myself, I might book 4-5 sessions back to back).
This is in the testing stages. So if it doesn't fly, then I may cancel it.
There will be some table rules that I'm going to be pretty particular about, too.
Don't worry, though. I'm a pretty chill DM overall. ;)
3) "Tip Jar" Projects
I'm going to be starting a series of projects I call "tip jars." Basically, they're big project ideas that I've started but don't have the time to complete due to normal requests. These projects will be at a CT discount from the normal stuff.
An example of a tip jar project is writing up more stuff for Wandrossa.
Or continuing the 7 Deadly Sins Artifact series.
Or creating more content/adventures for ZACs 5e or my sci-fit setting.
Right now, the cost for tip jar projects is 1 CT = 1,000 words of new content of my choosing. So if you put in 5 CTs for ZACs 5e, I might create a huge event-based adventure for it, or redo the survivor class (or just add in different classes).
Chances are I'll give discounts for stuff that I'm really in the mood to do.
==
Hopefully some of this stuff is exciting for you! I'll probably add some more options, too: a veritable library of things that you can do or get from DMDave!
Keep in mind that as I get more patrons, my calendar may slow down a little. But I'll keep you posted if and when it does.
Thanks all! Let me know what you think down in the comments.

Hey Haissam, I'm probably changing the system some point next week and everyone will get a "reboot" with it. The CTs got to be a bit much to handle :)

2019-03-22 18:19:35 +0000 UTCHi Dave, is there a spreadsheet where we can track our creation tokens? I couldn't see a consolidated list anywhere.
2019-03-22 15:56:53 +0000 UTCYeah I’ll be putting it on the front page probably soon!

2019-03-07 20:44:04 +0000 UTCHey Dave, do you have a current list of projects you're working on? I've had a request in since Feb, but have no idea from GoW traffic if it's still slated, or if I need to pay CTs. Either way its no problem. Plus, we can see what's available in the Tip Jar.
