Status Update - 2018-08-29

An overdue update…

What I recently did:

Beta 1 (and Beta 1.0.1 and Beta 1.0.2 and Beta 1.0.3)

I released Beta 1 first to the Alpha supporters and a sometime later to Beta supporters. And people started reported problems and bugs. Most of them had to do with controller support not working as expected and it turned out, handling different platforms has still a few kinks (not the fun sort of kink) in it, even when using a unified system like the one Unity provides. So, bottom line, I worked most of the month on fixing bugs and not too much on other things.

Cursor navigation

On Monday I re-enabled what I already had for cursor navigation. I was able to finalize it, so it will be ready now for anyone who wants to exclusively use the keyboard or use D-Pads to navigate the menus. It feels a lot better now and that especially goes for the scrollable view of the library. 

Bug Management

Before I was having a rather crude way of taking care of bugs. There is the Google Form to report bugs, but I get also reports via Discord or email or stumble unto them when using MMM for myself. I now went and made sure all of them are in my project management tool (which is hacknplan) and I prioritize them over new features. 

What I hope to accomplish next:

iTunes FileSharing for iOS

Though I have been an iOS developer for years I still missed that there is a feature where users can access files of an specific app if that is prepared for it. I always found that the wireless transfer of session was flawed and it doesn't work for many people out there. If I use this FileSharing feature users will instead be able to add sessions there and do not depend on the wireless transfer. I might even be able to completely remove the wireless tranfer alltogether.

Finalizing shop versions (unchanged)

Time to get my things together. While I definitely not release in August I still imagine being very close to being able to hit the stores.

Bring back Daydream controller support

The beta 1 does not support the Daydream controller as Unity isn't able to track that one, yet. It's high time I fix that for MMM so that owners of a Daydream can make best use of it.
