So Easter and even April are long past but uh... I'm still picking away at this!
The skirt portion is sewn on now (pic 1)! You can see an idea of how it will look worn in pic 2 (sewn temporarily to get an idea of the shape).
I combined two patterns (pic 3) to make this, and I am so glad I didn't go with my original plan to fake the gatherings with awkwardly inserted triangles of fabric. I wish I hadn't spent so much time on that plan before I got sick. π
I used the skirt pattern to shape the bottom of the bunnysuit-turned-dress and the created a sort of peplum using the pattern piece for the ruffle at the bottom. It was almost perfect as it was, but the sides had no ruffling, so I went back in and made the shape more aggressively circular.
Once I was satisfied, I lined it in the same material I will use for the dress body to hide the ugly grey underside of the material.
I pinned on a silver trim to match the trim I added to the bodice to hide how odd the bust looked. SPIKY DANGER DONUT!
I also managed to lose my mind TWICE and cut things I should not have cut, resulting in some Frankensteining:
Ugh. But hey, it's almost there! I just need to insert the lining and then reshape the top and add the silver trim up there too.
