I have received the footage from Cherry On Top’s Glamour and Grit showcase and I’d like to share it with you. It’s been a long time since I’ve shared a burlesque video and I’m really pleased with how the act went. I can nitpick a few things in the details of the technical side of the performance but overall, I think this is the best I have ever done this piece.
The last time I did it was probably about 7 or 8 years ago, and I have evolved into my dance expression, have had many many hours of time on stage, many many hours to connect to my body, breath, and emotions. And many hours of therapy between then and now. This is one of those acts where I can see the shifts I have had as a human. It’s interesting to be able to observe it from both an inside and sortof outside perspective.
I’m very grateful to have this medium to express through, and extra grateful to have had my partner Mike collaborating with me. I asked him if he would play the mandolin and he one upped the request by purchasing an octave mandolin so he could get just the right sound for the act. Apparently he was looking for an excuse to buy one, and I’m a happy enabler. He plays beautifully.
