"No way," I said sourly, looking up - way up - at Lei. She had a natural maternal smile and the height of any highborne elf. Ever since she found out about my... problem... well, our friendship had taken an unexpected turn. I'm a small gnome! It's not that surprising that I have a small bladder, is it?
"Yes way, sugar, and that's just going to be final I'm afraid."
"No no, I said no way!"
"And I said yes, and remember the lesson we learned together?"
I rolled my eyes and puffed my cheeks, mimicking her voice.
"Elves can see the big picture cause you're tall.."
"That's right, huffy girl!"
This wasn't fair! I wasn't a baby! Even if I was about the size of an elven baby... ugh, there she goes, getting in my head again!
Lei lifted me up under the arms and sat me on her hip. A rush of emotions filled me up, from frustration to bliss. She made me feel so different, like maybe I was small for a different reason...
"Let's get you out of these silly clothes," she said after sitting me on the counter. Her long fingers started unbuckling my armor. I tried to fuss, but she swatted my hands away.
"This isn't fair," I muttered.
"It might not seem fair," she reminded me, "but Elves see the big picture that Gnome girls just can't."
Her logic was so hard to argue with and I mumbled, playing with my fingers as I let her lay me down. I knew what was coming, but what was I supposed to do with that knowledge? She'd win me over one way or another.
Diapers were so ordinary these days. I didn't want them to be! But, like she said, changing out of my armor every hour wasn't worth it. If I had a diaper on, I could go six or even eight hours before I needed a change. It sure did help with some of our raids, but... well, this part was particularly embarrassing.
She untaped my very soggy diaper and threw it aside. Without the illusion of choice, she pulled a fresh one from a pile by the counter and slid it under my bottom. My cheeks were warm and I shied into the padded countertop. With her towering over me, I felt so small...
After the diaper was taped in place, I was pulled up into Lei's arms again. It felt so right...
"I got some paints all set up," she cooed. "We'll sit you on Mommy's lap and you can paint me a pretty picture."
Paint her a pretty picture?
Well, I did like art.
The problem was, she put me on her lap, once she sat in front of the canvas, and it took me a good few moments to realize something.
"Where're the brushes?"
She laughed a little bit and took my hand in hers, wriggling my fingers.
Oh my gosh...
She couldn't be serious?
"A true artist works with what she has, some of the finest Elves use their fingers. You don't want anybody to think a Gnome Girl got outdone by an Elf do you?"
...okay, it was on.
