For the first time in days, weeks, months... or had it been years?  Mommy took me out of that white room.  She situated me into a stroller, pushed me down a few hallways, and helped me into her SUV, into a carseat appropriate for girls my age.  I kicked my feet, sucked on my pacifier, and wet myself without thinking.  This was my life.  It had always been my life.  But now, the future was uncertain.  Where was Mommy taking me?

~~~
There was music in the car, and there were playbooks, too - coloring, and puzzles, and simple squeaky fabric joys, too - this seemed to be something of a long drive planned, or maybe a lot of small drives in future? The woman proved the latter point to be true as she pulled the car into a gentle and unassuming looking house in middle suburbia after only a few minutes.
~~~

I didn't recognize the house.  Though if I had seen it before I may not have recognized it anyway.  My past was a blur.  Gone.  Like a lost dream.  Mommy helped me out of the car-seat and carried me into the home.  Her home.  My new home.  And I was greeted by streamers and banners and balloons.  Stuffed animals covered the sofa, including my Pikachu!  And there was a pile of presents waiting for me.  I looked up at the sign, but I couldn't quite read it.  The hypnosis had taken away what little intelligence I ever had.

~~~
"Happy Birthday, Kimmy! You've just turned 1 year old, and it's your birthday!"
There were people in the house that came through the doors into the living room - others dressed similarly to her, adults that once were and that now weren't, with adults that quite still were to escort them. A party was just a pile of gifts without friends, and Kimmy was about to make her first ones.
~~~

Mommy introduced me to all her friends and I hid shyly behind her.  But the other little girls and boys were so cute too!  And they were already playing with toys Mommy had left in the living room.  I scampered over to play with them, but Mommy grabbed me by the wrist and put me down in front of my gifts.  Then she took a picture.  The first picture of my new life!  It would sit on our mantle for years to come.  I opened all my gifts, played with all my new friends, and ate a ton of cake!  Then, as I was lying sleepily in Mommy's lap, filling my diaper, I told her the truest thing I'd ever known.

"I love you, Mommy..."

~~~
"I love you, too, Kimmy."
Those words came easy. The woman, her new Mommy, she'd done this for many years - many of the other littles in this room had been former projects of hers, former problem cases. None of them had taken her heart the way that this little blonde girl had, though, nobody had ever won her affection and her heart. Kimmy, though... she'd proven special. She was worth the effort. And she was always worth loving.
