The way Ana ran her fingers up my sides was unlike anyone ever had. Her deep purple hair looked nearly-black in the dark alcove. She would speak quickly between notes in the songs; the club music was so loud I couldn't hear her without well-timed precision. Her lips touched my ear and she whispered one of those magical things that made me explode into butterflies. "Good girl", or "pretty princess", or "rosy-cheeked angel". The thrumming of the bass throughout the walls of the club were synchronous to her kisses along my stomach.

Annie was my princess, my project, my wife to be - I was sure of that last one - but most of all and for now, she was my secret: she had to be. We had mutual friends, they knew the two of us, they knew the way we looked at each other but they could never prove it. And good, too, because they'd never have let us hear the end of it. In the dark quiet place, drowned out by dim light and music, we kissed. Well, I kissed; she tried to kiss, the buzz of alcohol was warm in both of us and we couldn't stay apart. It was only by sheer luck that I looked up and saw our friend Selphie leading the pack of girls and boys in search of us. I hushed Annie, and we did everything we could to look casual as they approached us.
~~~
She put a finger to my lips and I froze in place. My breathing was heavy and my bangs were full of sweat. Her kissing had stirred a heat deep inside me and I just needed more of it. More of her. But then I saw our friends walking toward us and I put on a fake smile. "H-hey! We were, um..." Luckily, Ana was a better liar than me.
~~~
"We were just getting some air."
I played it cool, but Selphie looked at us with skepticism.
"In the stuffiest, back-endiest part of the club?"
Her eyebrows were raised, that's how much she doubted us, and I felt a hand taking mine - Annie was nervous and everyone had to have seen that, too. I bit my finger and grinned, coyly.
"Yeah. Sure. Um. We'll be right out?"
~~~
Selphie looked back at the rest of our friends, then smiled warmly. At first, I thought Ana had convinced them. We were going to get away with it! Then, Selphie raised a black light in front of her and clicked it on. Kiss-prints appeared on Ana's neck, her lips, her nose, and even one on her glasses. My kiss-prints. I looked down in a panic at my own body, covered in kisses, and blushed. Busted...
~~~
"I knew it! I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!"
Selphie wasn't livid, though, or angry, she was actually beaming.
"I knew you two were in lesbians with each other, it was SO obvious!"
The gaggle of friends chittered behind her, pointing and staring at the lip prints all over the two of us, and for maybe the first time in my whole darn life, I was lost for words. I grinned. And blushed. And shrugged slightly, squeezing Annie's hands. Yeah. We were definitely in lesbians.
