An explanation of ePub and Kindle!
Added 2019-06-23 22:24:47 +0000 UTCA lot of people don't know what ePubs are or why we upload both PDF and ePub! So here's a quick run-down.
ePub is an eBook file. Sort of like Kindle. This can be opened with any eBook reader (which are almost always free). If you read on your phone or tablet, eBooks are exceptionally great because you can adjust the size of text on the fly! Sometimes with PDFs you might find your phone screen to be too small to comfortably read. Some good eBook readers for phones are: iBooks for iPhone/iPad/Mac (free on the App Store) and eBookDroid for Android (free on the Google Play Store). You can also get Calibre for Windows (free from their website).
eBooks also offer a few features that PDFs do not. 1.) They have built in Table of Contents. So you can skim through stories by chapter. 2.) You can change the fonts and sizes to better suit your needs. 3.) You can highlight and "save" quotes and sections, so if you are looking for a particular part later you don't have to go looking! This can be especially helpful during some... uh... important alone times with stories. *halo*
For Kindle users:
So one sucky thing is that Kindle cannot natively read ePubs. But you can convert ePub format to Mobi (Kindle) format. It a bit of a pain, but it's free. You can also convert PDFs to Kindle format, which is much easier! Here's a link explaining how to do all that: https://www.pcmag.com/news/334440/how-to-put-free-ebooks-on-your-amazon-kindle
Anyway, I hope this inspires some people to try out our ePubs!
