Vacation delayed due to State of Emergency in Auckland - severe flooding, recordbreaking rainfall

The rain just kept getting worse and worse, until the motorways flooded, the airport terminal and runways flooded and the airport had to be shut down, several shops and supermarkets were filled with water, some waist deep! It was insanity just watching the reports flood in (pun intended!).
Luckily our house is in an elevated area and we had no flooding issues on our street, so we haven't experienced any personal damages but lots of people have had their homes flooded. Daddy's workplace flooded and their underground carpark filled up to the ceiling, and all the vehicles that were parked there were completely full of water :(
They've issued a State of Emergency and everyone is instructed to stay home unless absolutely necessary. So we've postponed our trip, and will hopefully be able to go on Wednesday instead. It's still going to be raining until then but just not as heavily, so hopefully roads will be back to normal by then.

Man even when the rains stop the amount of damage to people's property is gonna be off the charts, glad you guys were in a safer area when it hit.
