Blair and Cismo

A ressurrected OC from last year. She was an NPC from a DnD campaign I was playing, a helpful weird necromancer dedicated more to healing rather than puppeting undead skeletons (in that setting, [healing] spells are tied to necromancy).

I'll give a rundown of their backstories. I'm looking into drawing them from time to time. That after I finish the long line of WIPs I currently have lol

Blair is a failed necromancer coming from an important aristocrat family of mages. Her parents sent her away to a magical academy to become a thaumaturgist- a kind of spellcaster specialized in summoning and contacting extraplanar beings. Since she was the youngest between three siblings, their parents had expectations of Blair following their example and joining the mage king's army.

However, Blair suffered lot of pressure coming from her teachers and family. Due to the expectations of returning the investments her family trusted her, her school years were rough and constantly stressing. Her studies came to a halt once Blair caused an accident during an experiment that severely injured her, scarring portions of her body and isolating her because of the nature of her accident.

The doctors from the academy weren't able to treat her wounds, however. Entropic energy prevented them from healing and during all the months isolated in a hospital ward, her family didn't make efforts to contact her. She knew they abandoned her when the academy kicked her out, forcing her to mend the injuries by herself with the studies she was able to do during the months being treated.

Acting as a wandering healer, she did her best to rebuild her life and treat her illness. However, even when she was able to stay afloat she started to feel the entropy spreading inside her body at a point of severe exhausting her energies.

By chance, she was found collapsed in the streets of Portingh, the home of an eccentric alchemist called Cismo.

Cismo himself had a similar story to Blair: he was an apprentice physician and alchemist of Arcan, where healers learned non-magical ways to treat the sick and wounded. Necromancy in Arcan was forbidden, outlawed after a great calamity culminated in a magical plague that raised the dead. He also felt the pressure of his peers, trying to one up them in their studies, looking for a way to get reputation in the academic life.

His ambitions lead him into finding forbidden tomes of necromancy, which he studied and implemented in experiments to reverse the ultimate scourge: death.

Motivated by vain desires of fame, he overlooked several risks to his studies, provoking an accident during an experiment that severed his soul from his body. It took him years until he was able to move again, using the assistance of homunculi to execute a procedure that allowed his soul to control his body, installing the pins over his head and mending his skin.

Cismo treated Blair's condition, stabilizing it for the first time using what he learned from forbidden alchemy. He quickly realized she was the healer wandering the lands as she was impressed by his methods to treat the injuries other necromancers failed.

Asking to be tutored by him, Cismo and Blair forged an partnership. She would still have to assist him in his experiments, though. Also, a cute assistant would be a blessing for someone by years surrounded by boring homunculus and chemical vials.
