In regards to my patreon content
Added 2022-03-03 20:09:06 +0000 UTCLook I'll be blunt
Someone is skimming my patreon and posting it online on an illicit website that shares an enormous amount of various patreon account's content. I would really rather not have to crack down and start being more stringent in sharing my patreon content or track down the person doing it. So I ask you, please. Stop.
I mean. I don't even have any paywalled content really. I think I've maybe released less than a dozen things that were entirely paywalled off and only available to patreon supporters. And all of those things were WIPs, Snippets, Half-finished stories, or minigames that were made as Proof of concept than anything really worth playing. None of which are things I probably would have shared publicly at all.
EVERYTHING ELSE on my patreon is time-released. And its not even a long wait for most things. I mean, is it so much to ask to wait a single week to get my newest stories? Or AT MOST, 30 days for the latest CPA update or the occasional personal story? The absolute most you're ever waiting for anything I write is a single month. But by sharing my work for free without permission before it's publicly available is outright theft from me. It robs me of potential income. And this Isn't a thing I do on the side. This is MY JOB. This patreon and my commissions are how I pay my bills, keep a roof over my head, and buy food. So every time any of my patreon content is illegitimately shared to the public before its officially released It is literally stealing from me and jeopardizing my financial security. I'm not Wal Mart. You wanna steal? Go shoplift from wal mart. I'll even cheer you on. they're a faceless corporation that steals from society to enrich their owners. But Stealing from a mom and pop store or a freelance artist like myself is directly taking money out of the hands of real people that need that money to live.
None of the typically bullshit rational apply to justify sharing my work without permission
"They weren't gonna pay for it anyway." Then wait a week. It'll be free. Saying you had no intention of paying for something is not a justification for stealing it. Especially from small time freelancers like myself. You don't get to go to a car dealership and say a car is too expensive then just drive off with it and its ok. That's theft.
"I paid for a patreon subscription to get access the content you share for my money. I paid for it so I can do what I want with it." Wrong. You are not paying for ownership to my work you are paying for ACCESS. EARLY access at that, it'll be public soon anyway. But you do not own any rights whatsoever to any of my written work beyond the ones I, as the copyright holder, give you. Which does NOT include redistribution. That is even explicitly spelled out in my latest stories right beyond the title page. So sharing my stories with others that have not paid for that access is a violation of my copyright. It's not you "Doing what you want with a thing you own."
I'm asking nicely. I don't want to have to track people down and I don't want to have to start considering legal action. I mean for fucks sake its just waiting a few days then you get EVERYTHING. So please stop.
And just to clarify, in case anyone may have skimmed over the new copyright disclaimer in my newer works:

Yea. I really don't want to turn this into a fight. Because, again, IT ALL BECOMES PUBLIC and they don't even have to wait for it long. But I noticed yesterday that my patreon was skimmed again and has very recent content which means it was done within the last week :/
