Vindi's Takeover WIP

Hey there guys! sorry I didn't have anything exclusive for you guys last week. its been a bit hectic adjusting to my new jobs, working on commissions and trying to get the patreon in a place where I feel it works for both myself, and for you all. BUT NOW I GOT STUFF FOR YOU.

This is a WIP of an old story i started working on a year or so ago that i plan to go back to sometime this year and finish. The idea follows a kobold Vindi who was cast out from his tribe for speaking out against their dragon overlord. Vindi returns to the clan however and, much to everyone's surprise, his time away has done him worlds of good. hes grown significantly and unnaturally larger and stronger during his brief time away and stops to have a bit of a snack before he plans to have a 'chat' with their draconic overlord.

The idea i had behind this one was a dragon sorcerer who used spells that sapped the mana from everything around him and fed it to him, kept a kobold tribe to tend to his needs and also to act as mana batteries. So the kobolds had always been weaker and more frail than normal kobolds as all their lives they've been sapped of the magical energy they naturally generate nonstop. Vindi, after being cast out from the clan discovers that after generations of this treatment their bodies have become natural mana sponges, so devoid of magic that not only can they naturally, greedily suck it up from the air around them when not under the influence of their dragon's mana-drain spell but their body will actually augment itself to store more mana when it reaches capacity as a defense against emptying again. AKA: They abosrb magic, and the more they absorb the bigger they get.

So just imagine what'd happen to Vindi when he gets his hands on all the magic their dragon overlord has been stockpiling and hoarding for centuries. ;)

YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED THE PICTURE. a lot of this story was inspired by a conversation i had with @snakepecs on twitter and while discussing the story idea he got inspired and doodled up this illustration for a scene from the WIP I'm sharing with you and and I love it <3.

So yea, please enjoy! I plan to work on a few personal projects after this current run of commissions and this story is pretty high up on the list of ones i plan to tackle.
