Here is the recording of our latest online experimental life drawing session, led by artist and host of Portrait Club, Emma Prothero. This replay was recorded at the live online class and contains all the info you need to take part in this one-off session focusing on approaches to using oil paint in a life drawing session. Materials you’ll need
A selection of surfaces primed with gesso or white acrylic, such as; canvas, canvas board, wood panels, oil painting paper or plastic/metal sheets
A palette: options include wood, plastic, tear-off palettes or pots
Oil paint - any colours of your choosing!
If possible, bring a selection, including a light tone (preferably white) and a darker tone.
An oil paint medium such as; solvents/thinners such as odourless mineral spirits (Shell sol or Zest it) or turpentine or a drying oil such as linseed oil or poppy oil.
Paintbrushes ranging in size and type.
Optional mark-making tools; a palette knife, cloth/rags, a silicone colour shaper, a sponge.
Masking tape or clips
Rubber or latex gloves
Kitchen roll & dishwashing liquid (for cleaning)
