---------------------
In the next update, waifu2x will gain the ability to automatically detect interlaced videos and deinterlace them before initiating the upscale / frame interpolation process.
This enhancement will resolve compatibility issues with interlaced videos, such as those found in old DVD recordings.
Here is an example:

This new feature will be available in the next update, thank you for continuing to support this project! πππ

QTGMC on the Slower, Very Slow, and Placebo presets completely blows away other options for deinterlacing if AviSynth is on the table (and it sounds like it is if I am understanding your replies in this thread). I look forward to seeing that come to fruition.

2024-06-10 22:14:24 +0000 UTCIt only can fix compatibility issues with properly encoded interlaced videos. It can not fix "hard encoded" interlaced videos (For example, a video that has been directly encoded from interlaced to progressive scan without applying a deinterlacing filter.)

2024-06-10 12:12:58 +0000 UTCNice! I've got some old family recordings that could use this treatment :) Will it also detect if a video is interlaced, but incorrectly saved? & if so, would it be able to fix it?
