WOHOO! We're almost finished with the first 1/3 of the challenge!!
Today was my favourite day to paint so far! Still talking about the love for songs, Horse With No Name by America is one of my all time favourites. I remember it took me nearly a year to find the name of this song when I was 11, but when I did, I was so ecstatic I couldn't stop listening to it and ended up painting my ultimate masterpiece while listening to it for like 9 hours straight.
There's something about being all by yourself in the great outdoors which I absolutely love. Something about being able to forget your own name, and what better location for this feeling than a desert!
This piece was inspired by the majestic art of Mark Maggiori (cowboys and huge clouds?? SIGN ME UP) check out his work if you haven't seen it yet!!
Anyway, I painted this after a hike I took - 18km uphill - under 37ºC burning sunlight at a very dry region. I thought I'd pass out and it felt so awesome I was fuelled up and so inspired to paint again, haha!

Agreed, I've always loved looking at huge, billowing cumulus cloud formations with sunlight reflecting off of them, whether in art or in real life. They are very majestic and awe inspiring. Beautiful scene! And yes! Horse With No Name is a great song. For me it always evokes romantic images of the American southwest.
