Welcome to the second episode of LT TALKS.
Today, I’d like to share my thoughts on whether there are right or wrong ways to draw.
My answer is: Yes! And no!
First, let’s think about what we want to achieve when we communicate.
We hope others to get our message and react to it.
Drawing is just another way for artists to express themselves.
Some expressions are more convincing.
If someone speaks clearly, logically, and politely, people are more likely to connect with their words.
In drawing, this means making a piece that feels logical.
With sensible proportions, colors, light, and perspective, it makes it easier for people to enjoy the art.
This is what we call drawing 'correctly.' People generally appreciate these kinds of works.
Sometimes, people ask me, "What if you make mistakes while drawing?"
This is an interesting question because I never see my drawings as mistakes.
Does that mean I think I always draw perfectly?
No, objectively speaking, my drawings often have errors.
But for me, it's just that they aren't at their best yet.
Before a piece of art is finished, it often feels like it’s not good enough.
We can refine it step by step until it feels complete.
When a piece is finished is always up to the artist.
It reflects their skill and taste.
There are times when errors can’t be fixed, but that’s okay.
As long as we recognize there’s room for improvement, the next piece will be better.
But is just aiming for 'correctness' enough?
Maybe. Maybe not.
If you only focus on the accuracy of your drawing, it can end up feeling dull.
The audience might lose interest.
It’s like a boring teacher reading the textbook word for word.
There’s nothing wrong with that, but students might just doze off.
If you intentionally 'draw wrong,' could it draw more attention?
Maybe, but people might just focus on the mistakes and miss the message that the artwork is trying to bring.
This is where the 'PERSUASIVENESS OF THE ARTIST' comes into play.
In art, 'persuasiveness' often matters more than 'truth.'
An artist who believes in themselves will infuse their personality and values into their work.
No matter how abstract or weird the piece is, as the artist truly believes in it, their work will have an impact.
People won’t focus on whether it’s right or wrong; they’ll be moved and inspired by the work.
Anything that inspires people is considered a good piece.
The concepts of right and wrong become less relevant.
When someone points out mistakes in our artwork, it's good to listen openly.
Think about whether these "mistakes" really make our work less effective.
Would correcting them make the piece’s message stronger?
Sometimes, 'mistakes' are the most interesting parts of a piece of art.
In summary, persuasive artwork can go two ways:
One, drawing according to the rules, polished, and made to appeal to the public.
Two, drawing without following the rules, but it still carries a strong message that really persuades.
It’s like saying, "Let me show you who I am!" to evoke feelings in the audience.
We can also find a balance between both approaches.
Creating is always a personal freedom.
We can express ourselves in any way you want.

一、按規矩去畫畫,精美、符合大眾口味;
