Update on grass

Deformation is working! Both wheels and car body (actual collider mesh) now deform grass. Based on distance towards ground, so jumping cars won’t bend anything (never mind grass going through ramp, it’s to show it’s not bend; for actual tracks, some area adjustment could get rid of grass or shorten it in that area):

Depending on how grass is bent, it’ll stay like this or staighten up when possible. Some cars would not give it a chance though (no configs here, just use of collider mesh): 

Also, grass now has an option for more complex shading, adding a bit of speculars and backlit (although simple in code, because of grass density, it still costs extra 5 FPS in worst case). And it casts shadows too:

Very sorry for the late response, missed the notification. I added Objects Inspector for the upcoming update, allowing to check names and materials of different objects in-game, just for that

The grass is automatically placed on materials defined in the track's ini file.

Does the grass just appear or needs to be activated somehow? Sorry a total noob but loving the plugin. I am testing it on the Nordschlife.

If I don't know the materials, is there a good way to find out in a Track folder?

10-15% performance impact at nurburgring, it's acceptable. And the Mclaren Senna's rims and tyres motion blur problem still there, I want to know it's unfixable?

Hi, Check out GRASS_FX sections from the ini files under extension/config/tracks inside the zip from Ilja. If you know the Name of the Materials you want to have Grass you can put there names inside the config. „?“ is regex token. But also keep in your Mind it is Alpha state. So way to define Materials in ini files could change

Any information on how the grass configuration for a track is made, if I want to try it out on some of the other mod tracks I have?

Personally, I think regular density will be just fine for my needs - in VR I didn't notice a huge difference. I kind of wonder what 1/2 density might look like?

Got back from holiday and tested today, My rig: Intel 5820k @4.3Ghz - 32GB RAM - 2080TI Ran in VR on the Samsung Odyssey Plus at 300% Super Sampling Brands Hatch in Porsche Cayman GT4 wit 6 AI opponents: No grass - Frametime 8.8-9.4ms Regular Density - Frametime 10.8-13.2 - seemed highly variable based on how much grass was in view and spiked when someone went into the grass. Double Density - 11.8 - 13.8 - same spiky behavior as regular density. Really beautiful! I didn't actually notice much in terms of FOV or distance issues in VR (probably because VR is still not great for looking much past 100 meters on the track)

I added double density option, but it’s very expensive, so I’m thinking about some different ways to solve this. Also it looks quite unfortunate with distance and low FOV, fixing that too

Thank you! I’d say, in a couple of days, gotta figure out what to do with adjustment areas for them to work the best. Also, I think some new particle system for pieces of grass would help a lot, it shouldn’t take too long to add, hopefully
