Lore of Heroes #2 - The Mafia Macabre

Hello there, Lucyfar here. Today we have a new lore post for those who are interested in it. Look, I know for some a AVN is just a porn game but I know some people enjoy the other aspects of it, and I am a guy that loves world building so I'm having the time of my life creating this world, and today I'll talk a little bit about The Mafia Macabre, something that is very important in Comet City.

The Concept of Mafia Macabre

At a first glance it may look like Empire of Heroes is a goofy Silver Age comic book story, and sometimes it is exactly that, but while on the surface you have a world of superheroes saving the day against villains, behind the scenes is where the real players are doing their stuff, in the shadows. In short, the concept of the Mafia Macabre is basically the mafia (as we know it in our real world) but with elements of the supernatural and the esoteric, yes there's some fantasy elements in this game too, although I don't want to explain too much and prefer to leave some things open to interpretation, just know that in this world a loan shark can be a literal shark or a guy that will collect your soul instead of your money if you don't pay him, just a few examples.

Gangs of Comet City

Everyone loves when a story have multiple groups of people, each one with its own culture and style, it's cool and adds a lot of flavour (everyone has their favorite). Comet City is divided into districts and each one has its own style and culture, and of course, each district is controlled by a different gang. What I did with this is very simple, I took a lot of stereotypes from around the world and created a gang for each one of those stereotypes, you have the classic Italian ones, the Japanese Yakuza-like ones, and so on... I'm not gonna go into much details now because part of the fun is getting to know them by playing the game, but that's the concept, very simple, I'm a simple man.

The Seven Warlocks

The warlocks are the leaders of each gang in the macabre, they are very powerful, influential and dangerous individuals, and while villains are a little on the goofy more traditional "bad guy" or Sunday morning cartoon monster, the warlocks are more serious and realistic antagonists, and way more terrifying too. Let's say I took inspiration from a lot of Brazilian movies and let me tell you something, our villains are VERY SCARY (please watch City of God or Elite Squad). I have already mentioned two warlocks in previous posts, The Shadow Man and Necro Mantis. The Shadow Man is a warlock that it's going to be more prominent in the first season of the game, while Necro Mantis is related to Bloody Countess's storyline.

I wish I could say more about the Macabre but that's all for today, I don't wanna ruin the surprises and fun.

About Alpha/Beta testing

At first I have decided to do a Closed Alpha test first with a few people, but less than a few people showed interest in testing the game (1 person to be more precise) so I've decided to do it with close friends and myself, if you have interest in testing this demo version of the game comment below or send a message in our Discord.

The Open Beta will be almost definitely be released in December and the final version of the Prologue Demo too.

About the Prologue Demo

I have said this before but I think its important to reiterate, the Prologue Demo won't have any lewd scene or animation, the purpose of it is mostly to introduce the characters, the world and the vibes of the project. Some people won't like the style and that's okay, I'm very open to feedback but at the end of the day I also wanna make a game that I want to play and have fun with.
