The Iron Dice | Germany's Q-Kingdoms

Hey peeps,

dropping a little spontanous episode on ya before the holidays. At the beginning of this month, Germany saw one of its largest counter-terrorism operations of the post-war era happen. Those arrested belonged to a right-wing terrorist cell that had planned to send a group of armed men into parliament, take control and elevate a minor noble to the position of German monarch. The group these folks belonged to is part of the so-called "Reichsbürger"-scene that is similliar to to sovereign-citizen scene in the U.S. (only a lot crazier). Hope you enjoy this little dive into this coup-attempt and Germany's various (self-declared) kingdoms.

Since this is probably the last post for this month, let me wish you happy holidays, merry Christmas and a happy new year!

See you all in 2023!

Best,

Dan

That was super fun to listen to. I am amused that other countries (besides the US, where I live) have crazy sovereign-citizen like crazy people. Perhaps I should be depressed, ha!

Yes! They still have their titles but no claims or relation to power. That said, the main reason the current head of the Hohenzollern family is in the news now and then is for threatening historians and journalists that write something negative about the family with legal action or demanding reimbursements for the property seized by the Soviets/GDR. Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁

I'm curious about your statement that the Hohenzollerns are "Unfortunately" still around, I was under the impression that their name was mainly just a novelty and that the only European royal family still in politics were the Habsburgs, Merry Christmas also
