The Iron Dice | Bonus Episode #3: Vibe Election

Hey gang,

dropping a little spontaneous bonus episode on ya. Just had a few things to say about the German election on Sunday. I also dive into the newly announced military alliance between the US, UK and Australia a bit and the Afghanistan withdrawal. Not sure I had enough to say for a full bonus show but I'd rather put something out there now, rather than have you waiting longer for a bigger thing thats gonna be even more dated.

Reminder that you can listen to the bonus feed on most podcast apps if you add the custom RSS URL https://www.patreon.com/rss/DanArrows?auth=bYT6-RxwxjpQC52tp2yzft37u8H3crZP

See you soon when the video drops!

Love ya,

Dan

Yes, Europe should begin to distance itself from NATO and form a military pact with each other like the European army. But aren't that requires the capability to project the EU's hard power to the world, especially to Putin's Russia? I don't get how the EU could stand on its own right next door to ever more expansionist Russia on its side. With the current lackluster regular military forces, and weak stance on foreign matters in the more and more chaotic world. There is no way east European countries would leave American influences and go alone with the EU, if the EU can't shield them from Russian aggression, just like what is happening in Ukraine. If Europe wants to stand on its own, if the EU wants to be a polar, it should take a much more active role in Ukraine, rather than distancing itself from Ukraine.

I'm a bit confused. Wouldn't the SPD-CDU coalition have a majority anyway? Why would they add athird party for no reason? I know together they fall just short of the 51% of the vote in the polls, but considering election threshold in germany and the fact that the latest polls give between 8-9% of the vote to "other" non-threshold-passing parties then the cdu-spd would have a majority easily. Also how would such a party make any sense stability wise? Wouldn't the CDU jump at any chance to be in a jamaica coalition which would make them the senior party in the coalition and the most powerful in the government? With that said why would the SPD want that? A traffic light coalition would make them much more powerful in the government, being able dismiss large swaths of two smaller parties rather than needing unanimity with the CDU for every fart they make. Nvm I'm very confused.
