Changes for 2026: 3D (Part 2 of 2)

I’ve been having another personal issue that I absolutely need to address in 2026.

Over the past few years, I’ve been learning and developing my skills with Blender. I’ve made a lot of progress which I’m really excited about. However, I’ve also been telling people in my professional circle that I’m learning Blender or 3D, yet I have nothing I can show for it. Everything I’ve done so far is porn—which is fun—but I can’t show that to anyone outside of the furry fandom.

I desperately need to put together a 3D portfolio reel that I can show professional contacts. This has been coming up constantly. Someone I know professionally will drop that they’ve been looking for a 3D artist, or need someone who can animate a logo in 3D or some other related project and I know I could do an amazing job for them, but I have absolutely nothing to show that proves I can actually do the job.

This came to a head just two weeks ago when I coincidentally ran into a filmmaker friend of mine at physical therapy. He’s someone I worked with professionally early on in my career but who I haven’t seen in almost 15 years. It was really great to reconnect with him. (And like all good friendships, seemed like hardly any time had passed!) I would’ve loved to have talked about doing 3D work, even just as a career development kind of thing, and realized I couldn’t say anything because I had nothing to show for it. This is driving me bonkers.

I’ve tried to work towards this a bit in my spare time, like with the robotic arm I’d been doing this past year. Or things like game assets and scenes. But once again, as a full time working creative, I just haven’t had the creative bandwidth to make the necessary progress on it.

So this is something I’m going to prioritize over the next 2 - 3 months, or however long it takes to make a dent in this project. Unfortunately it’s not porn. I don’t know if there will really be much interest in it here. But it’s absolutely something I need to do for my own personal and professional development. I just can’t go another year without addressing this.

I’m not going to pause Patreon this time around because I don’t think I’ll really need to. The last time I took an extended break, I ended up doing a ton of work that I posted to Patreon anyway. I still plan to keep drawing and doing the comic too. And I find that if I’m not drawing full time already, I also tend to sketch more for fun. If I spend all day in Blender I’m more likely to draw for fun in the evenings. So there will still be stuff going up here. Anyway, just please bear with me while I do some not-furry, not-porn professional development type work.

As a secondary goal for 2026, I need to rebuild my Pulsar model. You might have noticed I haven’t done many animations with Pulsar in a while. That’s because his model is extremely jank, broken in a few ways, and very difficult to use and make look good. I’ve learned so much since I built the current version that I could easily make one far better in probably half the time. So that is going to be my goal for the second half of 2026, after doing the 3D portfolio. Then I’ll be able to do more animations too.

I have so many animation ideas I want to do. And I’ve been putting them off because Pulsar’s model is so difficult to use. So at some point this year I hope to have that done. Additionally, the professional portfolio work in 3D will also have the added benefit of making me more proficient in 3D in general, so it’s not like it’s some kind of wasted effort. Everything helps inform and improve everything else.

Thanks again for your support over the years! 2025 was a difficult year for a lot of reasons, including creatively, with how locked into the comic I was. Changing things up for 2026 will be really helpful. If you can continue to help support me this year I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. :>
