Hi everyone,
It’s been a long time coming, but I’m finally ready to share the remade southern Tracks at Spring Mountain, built to complement the previously released Charleston Peak layouts. Due to Patreon slightly changing how things work, you’ll find the download link at the bottom of the page now.
As many of you know, this update represents a complete rebuild of the Southern area, now based on photogrammetry. While it’s not LIDAR, the accuracy is significantly improved over the older versions I had made years ago, and it captures the facility's topography and layout with much greater fidelity.
What’s Included
This WIP package currently features two key layouts:
Fangio A – 2.4 miles
East – 2.1 miles
These two cover the majority of the southern site and cover a lot of the roads. Both layouts include:
Functional AI lines
Basic Replay Cameras
Please note: AI will be updated in future revisions, especially once the asphalt joins and material definitions are finalised. At present, some transitions between asphalt strips are still WIP and visually/physically inconsistent. Additionally, kerbs are placeholders in areas where more unique profiles are needed.
Development Status
This project is still under active development, so I’m not currently looking for detailed feedback. I'm already aware of several remaining tasks, including:
Cleaning up joins between different pavement sections
Finalising kerb geometry and placement
Adding accurate terrain collision and wall boundaries
Note on Charleston Peak
You can drive northwards from the southern layouts to reach Charleston Peak, but please be aware that:
This is not the final Charleston Peak mesh, it is a much earlier one.
It uses an older version of the geometry
Due to differences in the production timeline, Charleston and the Southern Tracks were developed separately. Once both are finalised, I will merge them into a single master model, allowing for the long layouts that the facility supports in real life.
Limitations (Current WIP Build)
No collision mesh yet: If you go off track, you’ll pass through barriers and objects
Lighting, terrain mesh, and LODs are still in early phases
Certain buildings and trackside objects are placeholders or missing entirely
Thanks again for your continued support. This release is another step toward making Spring Mountain one of the most complex real world circuits available in sim racing. More updates will follow quite quickly now that the bulk of setting the stage has been sorted.
