Kelowna Highway - Progress Update.

Hey Everyone,

This is a little progress update for the Kelowna Highway project.

For those unfamiliar with the project, it’s a 1:1 recreation of a just over 3km stretch of highway in British Columbia in Canada. Situated in the middle of the highway is a crossover / connector that leads from one side, to the other. This is a popular meet up place for car enthusiasts in the area.

I’ve spent a long time focusing on the dense vegetation of the area, really trying my best to give it an authentic look.

As the project nears a shareable state I can say there will be three layouts available.

A 6km route that goes up and back on itself along the highway, with a hairpin turn at either end. Ideal for racing high-speed cars, but you’ll sure need a good set of brakes! (Blue in the image below)

A shorter 4km route that makes use of the underpass to create a more technical route, but still allowing use of a large section of the highway. This is playing out really well for street cars and some of the slightly modified car mods. (red in the image below) I'm quite tempted to add a fictionalised road just to allow cars to bypass each other on the underpass (only for this version of the course) to allow for an extended route that uses more of the highway, any thoughts on this?

The main attraction is a 'drift' layout using both skid pads and providing highway access via both junctions. This will be perfect for those looking to play around on a nice recreation of a public road. (green in the image below)

I had hoped this would be available this week, but im still finalising the AI routes, and replay cameras for the drift layout. As well as that, there’s still work to be done modelling the bridge supports on the underpass of the track.

So, I’m aiming to release this next week, now. Then while you’re checking it out, I’ll be going over Alaska Raceway park again, acting on the feedback you’ve all given me. There are so major changes I need to make. But nothing that should prove difficult.

Stoked, does the road dead end at the end of the straight above the top skid pad? In real life it continues as a dirt road after a cattle guard. Which is fun to jump over for more of a run up into the skid pad
