Chapter 5.1.1.1.1.1.2 - They try to use the app to make themselves into adults.

Tim opened the app and fantasized about what he and Steven might do with it next.

“You’re thinking about changing us again?” Steven asked, craning his neck over to see what Tim was doing with his phone beside him on the couch.

“Yeah,” Tim admitted. “I’m not sure what to do, though.” He looked Steven in the eyes and smiled. “Do you have something you want to try?”

“Hmm,” Steven said, thinking and rubbing his 9-year-old chin in a way that Tim found adorable. “You know, as fun as it is to be kids again, I’m kinda curious what we’ll look like as adults.”

Tim nodded. “Sounds good. How old do you want to be?”

“Uh,” Steven said, his eyes twinkling with excitement. “Twenty… five?”

Tim could hardly wait to see what a grown-up Steven would look like. He held up his phone and hugged Steven to him to take a selfie of them both, knowing that a single picture with one caption would let him edit their ages more quickly. “Smile.” They both smiled and Tim snapped a photo.

Then, he turned his attention to altering their ages. Not wanting to wait another moment to grow older, he selected them both as subjects and hurriedly typed in that they were 25 years old, fumbling with the keys and deleting mistakes as he rushed to finish. Finally, he hit “save” and clicked through a warning pop up without bothering to read it.

As the progress bar began to fill, Tim set the phone down on the coffee table and turned his attention to Steven. The boys stared at each other anticipating the growth to come, watching for signs of puberty returning to their bodies.

However, after only a few seconds, Steven frowned and said, “Something’s wrong.”

Tim agreed when he realized that Steven did not appear to be growing. If anything, Steven seemed to be shrinking. Tim looked down at his own body to see that his clothes were getting looser on him as he became smaller.

“Tim!” Steven squeaked, holding up his smaller hands for inspection. “What did you do? We’re getting even younger!”

Tim went to grab his phone but found that it was out of the reach of his shorter arm. He had to lean over to grab it while taking care not to fall off the seemingly growing couch. All the while, his body continued getting younger and smaller, making him have to reach ever further as the seconds passed. By the time he managed to pick up his phone, he had become preschool-aged and needed to use both hands to hold up the relatively bigger device.

“Make it stop!” Steven cried, like a frightened child. “I don’t wanna be a baby!”

Kneeling on the couch now, Tim checked their caption and immediately noticed his mistake. Instead of typing “25” for their ages, he had accidentally only typed “2”. He searched for a way to cancel their transformation, but there was no button on the nearly filled progress bar, and none of the menus would open when he pressed on them. He considered just closing the app, but he worried that doing so might cause other potentially worse problems.

What should he do?

Tim closes the app before the transformation is finished. (5.1.1.1.1.1.2.1)
