Thinking that he could get them both out of trouble using the app, Tim nodded his head toward the teacher, indicating that they should go. Chris nodded in consent, but he had a doubtful look on his face, as if he were ready to run at any moment.
As the teacher led them down the hall, Tim stealthily pulled his phone out and whispered to Chris, “Do you know this teacher?”
“That’s Mr. Blair,” Chris whispered back. “He’s the Senior History teacher, a real asshole. He’s always harassing me for no reason.”
Tim could think of several reasons why a teacher would be keeping a close eye on Chris. Still, it sounded like Mr. Blair was a fitting target to transform. Tim opened the app and snapped a quick picture of the teacher when he had his head turned for a second to check that the two of them were still following.
“What’s that app?” Chris whispered.
“It can change people,” Tim whispered back. “It’s how I changed you.”
“You did this!?” Chris squealed.
Mr. Blair turned to look at them, and Tim quickly hid his phone behind his back. “What was that?” he asked Chris.
“N-nothing,” Chris said, putting on a smile. “I was just asking my friend here a question about the weather.”
Mr. Blair gave him a suspicious look and said, “Just keep your mouth shut for now. You can talk when we get to the office.” Mr. Blair led them down some stairs.
“Well,” Chris whispered. “Do something to him. Get us out of here.”
Tim selected Mr. Blair as his subject and read his caption:
Keith Blair is a 57-year-old history teacher. He is a divorced parent of a 30-year-old daughter, Lisa, and a 28-year-old son, Keith. Neither of his children speak to him anymore. He regularly gambles large sums of money in online card games and on sports betting websites. When he loses money, he tends to take out his frustrations on students. (Show more.)
Tim was not sure if he found that caption more depressing or infuriating. Either way, he felt that Mr. Blair was in need of a change.
