Patron Special: Interceptor Drones, Ukraine, & Affordable Air Defence
Added 2025-04-22 13:15:57 +0000 UTCAs promised, as a way to thank you all for your much appreciated support, my hope is to start producing some content exclusively for you here on Patreon. I expect this content to vary from cut content to interesting topics that, for whatever reason, don't make it into their own public release.
For our first one, I wanted to take a quick look at interceptor drones and the way these anti-drone drones have already impacted the war in Ukraine and might change warfare beyond it as well. If people are interested I may also experiment with the drop function so we can have a live chat here when the Patron episodes go live.
Thank you again, seriously, for your ongoing support and engagement, and I hope you enjoy the video.
Also - a poll on upcoming topics will be going up shortly and your votes, as always, will be much appreciated in helping me set priorities.

2025-08-21 10:49:54 +0000 UTCI wonder if the QF-16 drone conversion can match the performance of a manned F-16?

2025-07-17 00:18:44 +0000 UTCThank you for making this topic an hour general essay. Ukraine war will be the war that properly usher in Drone warfare and it will be the mainstay of all future wars to come.

2025-07-14 11:36:57 +0000 UTCFantastic video, as always. Thank you very much for the amazing work. The first thing that also came to my mind when seeing the more capable interceptor drones was helicopter survivability. A video on the future of helicopters will be very interesting.

2025-07-06 19:17:44 +0000 UTCAfter recent events I assume we’ll be able to revisit drones as strategic bombing assets when the dust settles?

2025-05-17 18:27:21 +0000 UTCFantastic breakdown on interceptor drones — I really appreciate how you cut through the hype and focus on their actual battlefield impact, the various places within the depth of magazine. One angle worth adding is the intellectual property side. While Ukraine is rightly prioritizing survival over patents, there’s real innovation happening — some of it likely patentable. This is, after all, the land of Sikorsky and Antonov. Their legacy lives on in today’s engineers developing loitering ISR or building quadcopters that haul 2,000-pounders. Or working on it. Of course, IP takes a back seat when you’re trying to shoot down the one poaching your drone tech. Suing him on top is unnecessary. But once the conflict ends, and an export market for drones emerges, the patent landscape will start to matter again. In countermeasure tech especially, co-dependent patent structures often emerge. So it’s not entirely far-fetched to imagine former adversaries cross-marketing drone systems at future arms expos. OK, maybe that’s a stretch. On a related note, I’m working on a project that intersects with some of these themes: an online game concept loosely centered on quadcopters, with core mechanics shaped by the needs — and to the specific benefit — of some very real actors in today’s geopolitical landscape. I’d really value your opinion. And while I appreciate your background as a gamer, it’s your geopolitical lens I’m especially interested in. I’m looking for perspective, not endorsement. I sent a DM back in March with a 20-minute (strictly private) deck — just not sure it got through. Thanks again for the outstanding content. These Patreon-special videos are a fantastic addition — this one very timely for me. Thank you.

2025-05-13 04:24:13 +0000 UTCInnovative and I do like what you've done here. This could give you the freedom to show more informative but demonetizing videos? Between you and Drachinifel, my hours on Sundays can be a bit of a chore. Thanks from Amerika, and Glory to the Heroes. Carry on and thanks, sir.
