Charity and the channel
Added 2023-09-07 22:02:35 +0000 UTCAs mentioned in the last episode, it's been a while since I did an update on charity donations and wanted to give one as well as continue the old tradition of getting guidance from the Patrons on where the next few donations should go.
My general approach has been to constantly switch between what I perceive to be good charities focused on humanitarian causes. The rotation is a risk mitigation exercise - even if one charity is missing a critical need, perhaps another will get there.
Supported causes have included the groups who provide medical support within Ukraine (e.g. the Global Surgical and Medical Support Group), humanitarian support to UA refugees in the EU (e.g. Polska Akcja Humanitarna) and official efforts for issues like reconstruction (U24).
I haven't yet committed to a cause to support this month, so I've included a few regular causes below, and would welcome feedback on where I should focus.
I don't know how many sponsors will make payments in the next few weeks - but once I do I'll also include information on how much I pay out (split roughly according to voting results) for sake of transparency in a future update.

I am so pleased by the fact that Perun donates his Patreon revenue to worthy causes, and is essentially doing the research for us in determining what those causes might be. I see videos from Ukrainian units on telegram and youtube asking for individual donations and I would like to donate to them all, but I simply can't afford the time/energy/cash to look into all these opportunities and determine the best places to send what limited funds I have available. The fact that he is doing this on our behalf is fantastic.

Check out the channel https://youtube.com/@Harley-EOD he is trying to help Ukrainian volunteers who are literally demining unsafely like it was WW2 due to lack of proper tools.
