Looking for a way to show my thanks

G'day all.

As you'll probably hear in today's channel update, I once again callout the fact that I have a huge appreciation for the support you all provide. I don't want to overdo it, but given its relative reliability, I think it's fair to say that it is Patreon that gives me the confidence to evolve my content and processes the way I have. It's how I know I can pay fairly for sound editing and support, purchase satellite imagery to verify reports I read from UA, and why I can take leave or reduce work commitments in order to make sure I have the time I need for research, background interviewing, quality control and things of that sort.

None of you are here for rewards or anything, I know that, but I am keen to show some appreciation given how remarkable this all is. I've come up with a few ideas and wanted to put them to our traditional non-binding (multiple choice allowed) vote.

Cut content: Every video I produce inevitably has material that doesn't make it to the final cut - usually for reasons of length. In other cases I decide I can't safely cover a topic due to its sensitivity (or at least not cover it in enough depth to make up a video). I thought I might try and share some of those slides, issues or thoughts here for those that are interested.

Behind the scenes: This one has been asked about, so I include it here. I get a lot of questions about how I stream my research and production processes or how episodes come together. That doesn't seem like something suitable for a genuine audience, but I imagine there might be some appetite for some material on that side of the channel here..

Q&A: Responding to every YT comment is not practically possible (though I still read many of them and they obviously are critical for driving the YT algorithm) - but I wonder if there might be room for smaller scale efforts to answer questions here. If there is a strong response I'll give some thought to how this could be done.

Once again, my sincere and genuine thanks, and I hope you enjoy this week's episode when it goes up.

Consider going bi-weekly.

What if we legitimately want you to sleep more, maybe hire research assistants or writers?
